Chimp Gang Ambushes Banana Truck, Locals Call It the “Banana Heist”. In western Uganda’s Kibale Forest, a group of chimpanzees pulled off what locals are calling “the Banana Heist of the year.” Witnesses say the chimps moved with shocking coordination, one stood watch on the road while another climbed the truck with a stick tool, breaking open crates in just the right spots. For the next mile, bananas poured from the back of the truck, where more chimps waited along the road ready to collect them. Officials reviewing the footage said they’d never seen anything like it, calling the ambush “strategic, organized, and oddly impressive.”
